Life for Real (French: La Vie pour de vrai) is a 2023 comedy film written and directed by Dany Boon. It is a co-production between France and Belgium. The film stars Dany Boon, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Kad Merad. It was theatrically released by Pathé on 19 April 2023.
The film tells the story of Tridan Lagache (Boon), a 50-year-old man who has spent his entire life working at a Club Med resort. He decides to resign and return to France to find his childhood sweetheart, Violette. However, when he arrives in Paris, he is quickly overwhelmed by the modern world.
Tridan meets Louis (Merad), his half-brother whom he never knew existed. Louis agrees to let Tridan stay with him, but only if he agrees to keep his identity a secret. Louis is also worried that Tridan will never be able to find Violette, so he asks his friend Roxane (Gainsbourg) to pose as her.
At first, Tridan is happy to be reunited with Violette. However, he soon realizes that she is not the same person he remembers. Roxane, on the other hand, is drawn to Tridan’s innocence and naivety.
